Performance Doorset Certification Scheme

Fire Door Certification

Our UKAS accredited performance doorset certification scheme covers both timber and metal fire doors. This third-party certification scheme provides independent verification of a manufacturers production controls and the doors performance evidence.

Certification can be given for door blanks and door leaves, for hanging in fire rated frames or complete doorsets covering fire resistance of over 30 minutes. The complete scheme rules can be viewed
here.

CLEAR LABELLING AND VERIFIABLE PERFORMANCE CLAIMS

UKTC ensure uses a tamper-resistant label that provides clear performance information and a direct link to the verifiable evidence. This is a crucial feature of UKTC ensure as it creates the golden thread of safety information directly from the product to the secure evidence.

Clear labelling and verifiable evidence has been demanded by industry stakeholders in the wake of the Grenfell tragedy and UKTC ensure offers manufacturers the opportunity to meet the demand. These labels, complimented by clear and publicly available scheme rules create...

  • An Unbroken, transparent chain of evidence as recommended by Paul Morrell & Anneliese Day in 2023.

  • Digital access to supporting documentation as referenced in The Construction Products Reform Green Paper in 2025.

  • Evidence that is digital, accessible, version-controlled and linked to product marking as called for in the Golden Thread Report by the BRAC in 2021.

Organisations that join UKTC will be demonstrating their commitment to transparency and be ahead of regulatory reform as demand continues to grow.

How to achieve fire door certification

The path for many third-party certification schemes will follow a similar route and include a Factory Production Control (FPC) Audit, Sampling of a Product and annual on-going surveillance.

UKTC ensure offers publicly accessible scheme rules and a clear route to compliance to echo the transparency that is at the core of its mission. The following is a summary of each step towards certification...

FPC AUDIT

A Factory Production Control (FPC) audit is performed at each site where the product to be certified is produced. The audit is carried out in accordance with ISO 9001 and will be completed by a member of the UKTC certification team.

SAMPLING

During the FPC audit, the Certification officer will identify product(s) to be Initial Type Tested (ITT) that will be used as evidence towards the product certification. Evidence from another UKAS accredited laboratory will be taken into consideration at the discretion of the certification team.
